Insurance & Billing

Your Rights to information on payment policies

The SurgCenter of Western Maryland, LLC will bill your insurance company or the responsible party for your services separately from your surgeon, the anesthesiologist (if required for your surgery), and pathology or laboratory charges, if a specimen or sample was taken. It is our responsibility to verify that your insurance plan covers the facility services.

We accept CareCredit for your convenience:

CareCredit Provider Payment: https://carecredit.com/Pay/475BNJ

We participate with most insurance carriers in our area. You are responsible for your In-Network deductibles, co-insurance and co-pays. We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover to assist you in paying for your services. To ensure proper filing of claims, please bring valid insurance cards with you on the date of surgery.

If you receive anesthesia, you will be billed separately by the anesthesia service provider for their professional fees.  These fees are not included in the surgical center facility fees. Again, you will be responsible for your In-Network copays only.  If you have any questions regarding anesthesia charges, please call us to request their contact information.

Patients who experience financial hardship, according to current Federal Poverty Guidelines, may apply for charity adjustments or billing discounts. Applications must be made prior to surgery. Patients can request information regarding this policy by calling and asking to speak with a billing department representative.

It is your right as a patient to request information or have questions answered regarding fees or payment policies. If you have any questions or problems regarding your bill, please contact our billing department, and our staff will be happy to assist you.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your health care will cost.

Under the law, health care organizations need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.  This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and Ambulatory Surgery Center fees.
  • Make sure your health care organization gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care organization, and any other organization you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or Call 240-522-0185 to speak with our Business Office.
